2006 Childress Late

I love the layers of complex, honeyed flavor in dessert wines, like ice wines and late harvest rieslings. But late harvest viognier was new to me. It's new for Childress, too, available only online and at the winery. Expect a deep pineapple color, perfumey aromas and a bold sweetness, with rich, sharp flavors of caramelized pineapple, apricots and dark honey. Save it for an occasion when you can linger after dinner with walnuts and Stilton.
