The 2005 vintage Sangiovese will be released at Childress Vineyards on Thursday, March 15 in a special party for the winery's Fast Track Wine Club members.
NASCAR Team Owner Richard Childress and partner Greg Johns will be on hand while wine club members sample the new wine. The event which is from 6-9 p.m. is free to club members.
The 2005 Sangiovese was produced from grapes grown on Gianni Farms, the estate vineyard of Johns located in Summerfield, NC. Greg's Italian heritage influenced his entry into the wine business and he takes great pride in tending to the vineyard himself along with assistance from Childress Vineyards' vineyard manager, Matt Chobanian.
This year's vintage was crafted by award-winning winemaker Mark Friszolowski. The 2004 Sangiovese won gold medals in the Florida State International Fair, the American Wine Society's Commercial Competition and the Mid-Atlantic Southeastern Wine Competition. |
